Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
Please note: This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) with hybrid working, and office locations in Stevenage, Warwick, or Newcastle. Due to the nature of the role, candidates may also be required to undergo additional security screening.

What will you be doing?
You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end vetting and referencing process across major projects and individual hires, ensuring a smooth, compliant experience from start to finish. Working closely with HR teams, hiring managers, the TA function and People Services, you’ll build strong relationships and act as a trusted point of contact for all vetting-related activity.
You’ll provide expert advice on a wide range of vetting queries, confidently managing both routine and more complex cases in line with governance requirements and service level agreements. Accuracy will be key, as you maintain and update records within our HR systems, ensuring all activity is clearly documented and audit-ready.
With a strong focus on compliance, you’ll ensure all processes meet internal and external auditing standards, while also identifying opportunities to improve how we work. You’ll play an active role in driving continuous improvement, helping to streamline processes and enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the function.
What you’ll bring
- Strong experience managing end-to-end vetting and referencing processes
- Good knowledge of HR systems (ideally Oracle) and exposure to IDVT tools
- Confident stakeholder engagement across HR, TA, People Services and hiring managers
- Solid understanding of compliance and employment legislation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Strong Microsoft skills, particularly Word and Excel
