This role is in our Aviation department, our team is responsible for a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields across the Group.

What will you be doing?
You’ll be responsible for:
• Managing the safe day-to-day delivery of specialist civil engineering projects across major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields.
• Planning, coordinating and supervising all site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements.
• Leading and managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards, company procedures and client requirements.
• Developing and implementing site-specific work plans, method statements and construction programmes.
• Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontract resources to maximise productivity and minimise disruption to airport and airfield operations.
• Monitoring project progress and providing regular updates to the Project Manager on programme performance, resource requirements, risks and opportunities.
• Managing site documentation, including daily diaries, permits, inspections, quality records and progress reports.
• Undertaking site inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure works are completed in accordance with specifications, drawings and industry standards.
• Identifying and resolving construction, operational and technical issues to maintain programme delivery.
• Supporting the management of project costs through effective resource utilisation and proactive identification of variations and change events.
• Coordinating with clients, operational stakeholders, consultants and airport authorities to ensure works are delivered safely within live operational environments.
• Leading daily briefings, toolbox talks and site coordination meetings to promote a positive safety culture and ensure effective communication.
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
• Supporting project planning and logistics activities, particularly where works interface with operational airport and airfield infrastructure.
• Ensuring permits, approvals and access requirements are obtained and maintained for all site activities.
• Contributing to project reviews, lessons learned workshops and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supporting the Project Manager in achieving project safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives.
• Acting as the primary site-based representative for the business, maintaining professional relationships with clients and stakeholders at all times.
What you’ll bring
• Proven experience as a Site Manager, Supervisor or Site Agent within Civil Engineering, Infrastructure or Construction projects.
• A strong understanding of civil engineering construction techniques, methodologies and site management practices.
• Demonstrable experience managing site operations on live infrastructure projects, ideally within airport, aviation, defence or other highly regulated environments.
• The ability to plan, coordinate and supervise multiple work activities while maintaining programme, quality and safety requirements.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage direct labour, subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, operational teams and project stakeholders.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work packages and construction programmes.
• Sound commercial awareness and an understanding of cost control, productivity and resource management.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
• A proactive approach to health, safety, quality and environmental management.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate site records and reporting.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Experience delivering works within airport or airfield environments.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.
• Experience managing civil engineering works including:
• Drainage
• Highways
• Pavements
• Groundworks
• Reinforced concrete works
• Airfield infrastructure
• Utilities and ducting
• SMSTS qualification.
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
• CSCS Managers Card.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Experience working within security-controlled environments.
• A willingness to travel and work across major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields throughout the Group.
• A full UK driving licence.
