Where you’ll be working?
BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
What you'll be doing?
Take technical ownership of LV engineering activities across projects, from design development through manufacture, testing and commissioning. Produce and review LV switchboard, MCC and control panel designs, including drawings, schematics, cable schedules, bills of materials and associated documentation. Interpret client specifications and develop compliant, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions, carrying out design calculations, equipment selection and technical reviews as required. Ensure engineering deliverables are issued to programme and support design reviews, client meetings, FATs, commissioning activities and issue resolution. Maintain compliance with BS EN IEC 61439, relevant industry standards and company procedures. Support manufacturing teams with technical queries, non-conformances and design changes while promoting robust design verification, document control and engineering governance. Contribute to the development of standardised designs, digital engineering tools and EPLAN/EEC capabilities, driving continuous improvement, efficiency, quality and safety across all engineering activities.
HNC/HND, degree or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong practical experience in LV switchgear, MCC, control panel or electrical distribution design.
Good working knowledge of BS EN IEC 61439 and associated LV standards and design requirements.
Experience of checking and approving engineering documentation and supporting less experienced engineers.
Experience with EPLAN is desirable; experience with automated engineering/configuration tools would be advantageous.
Good understanding of manufacturing, FAT, commissioning and the practical implications of engineering decisions.
